Questions

Where does the data come from?

The U.S. Department of Labor's public Form 5500 data sets: the Form 5500 itself, Schedule A (insurance information, filled in by each insurer) and Schedule A Part I (each broker or agent the insurer paid). We use the 2024 form-year “Latest” files, which DOL refreshes monthly.

Which plan year is this, and why isn't it newer?

Mostly plan years that began in 2024 — every report and file labels the plan year on each plan. Form 5500 is due seven months after a plan year ends (later with an extension), so public data always lags a year or more. Amounts are what was disclosed for that plan year, not what anyone is paid today. Latest filing received in our data: Sep 24, 2026.

Why can't I find my company?

Welfare plans with fewer than 100 participants at the start of the plan year that are fully insured or unfunded generally don't have to file Form 5500 at all, so most small employers won't appear. You also won't appear if your plan is entirely self-funded with no insurance contracts (no Schedule A), if your coverage is through a PEO or multiple-employer arrangement that files under its own name, or if the filing is under a parent company's legal name. Try the legal name or the parent company.

Does Schedule A show everything my broker is paid?

No. It shows what insurers paid brokers and agents in connection with each insurance contract. Fees you pay a broker directly, and payments from TPAs, PBMs or other vendors, usually aren't on Schedule A. Ask your broker for their written compensation disclosure under ERISA section 408(b)(2)(B).

What does “higher than 60% of similar-size plans” mean?

It's a position, not a verdict: 60% of welfare plans in the same size band that disclosed broker compensation reported a smaller amount. Compensation depends on the coverage bought, premium, number of carriers and services provided, so the report never labels an amount as too high or too low.

Is this advice?

No. The report organizes information from your organization's own public filings. It isn't legal, tax, insurance or investment advice, and it isn't an evaluation of any broker or insurer. Talk to your ERISA counsel or benefits adviser before acting on it.

What if my report can't be produced?

If we can't match your order to filings in the data, a person looks at it within one business day. If we still can't deliver your report, we refund you in full.

How are renewal dates projected (broker seat)?

From the policy period on each Schedule A, rolled forward to its next anniversary. Policies usually renew on the same date each year, but contracts can change dates, be replaced or end, so treat the date as a starting point.

Does the seat include contact details?

No. You get the plan sponsor's business name, city and EIN as filed, and the broker of record as filed. We don't publish or sell personal contact information. Follow CAN-SPAM, the TCPA, Do Not Call rules and your state's insurance-solicitation rules when you reach out.

Can the data be used for credit, insurance underwriting or employment decisions?

No. We aren't a consumer reporting agency, and the data can't be used for credit, insurance underwriting, employment or housing decisions. See the Data Use Policy.

How do I cancel the seat?

Anytime, from the customer portal link in every email. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you've paid for.
